In support of the KEGS Foundation
Many KEGS members, mining and service companies, and other supporters have generously contributed to the KEGS Foundation in the past, enabling the Foundation to fund more than 200 students in geophysics across Canada since its inception in 1999.
Now in its sixteenth year of fostering the education of future geophysicists in Canada, the Foundation is currently providing twenty scholarships totalling more than $16,000 to fourteen undergraduate and six graduate students in geophysics at eleven Canadian universities, thanks to past and recent generous support*. In addition to the scholarship awards, the Foundation facilitates student participation in educational events such as the annual KEGS Symposium and geophysical breakfasts in Montreal City, Vancouver and Toronto by subsidizing their registration and travel costs, and has recently instituted a KEGS Special Lecture program.
The Foundation also helps honour the long history of major innovations and achievements of the Canadian geophysical industry and noted exploration geophysicists through endowed scholarships, notably the KEGS Pioneers Scholarship, the GSC Pioneers Scholarship, the BCGS Scholarship, the CGG Scholarship, the WAMIC Geophysics Scholarship and the Limion Scholarship, as well as acting as the trustee of the JE Steers Bursary.
Noting that the geophysical sector is currently enduring a reduced level of activity, KEGS encourages contributions from members, companies and other supporters who may not have donated in the past as well as renewed support from past donors.
A donation form for this appeal is appended for your convenience. While cheques are preferred, donations can now be made online by credit card, via the PayPal service.
With renewed appreciation for your support and best wishes,
Jerry Roth, Chair, KEGS Foundation
Stephen Reford, Vice-Chair, KEGS Foundation
